Fluffy clouds over the Cuillin by Pete Rowbottom, Wigan, UK Via Flickr: Another foray into some black and white work again, this time from Summer past with a shot of the full Cuillin range on Skye.
I’d wanted a shot of full range of the mountains but it never seemed to work out either with the weather shrouding the tops or the angle wasn’t quite right at a certain location with the clouds, either way it never seemed to quite pan out, this day I was driving toward Neist Point and decided to divert into Talisker to see if there was anything going on at the distillery, there wasn’t so I continued up past the distillery to the road directly above it, looking back there was this great scene of the Cuilin with these fantastic fluffy white clouds directly over the tops but not covering them at all and casting contrasting light / shadow down onto the peaks below, this was captured with a 2 stop grad and polarizer to keep the contrast in the sky, and shot as a 9 shot panorama.
Sun and cactus spines by Sheila Sund Via Flickr: A combination of some of my favorite things in photography - back-lighting, black and white, texture, scenery, and hopefully a new perspective on a prickly subject.
